This company of Ponca chiefs White Eagle, Standing Buffalo, Standing Bear and others are on their way home from the Indian Territory, where these were left according to their own story, believed to be literally true, by the man who took them there, to find their way back as best they could without money, or pass, or guide. They have suffered much there for, & would
be grateful to any settler, for food or shelter when needed, as they have nothing to purchase with. This paper is given thus simply to tell their wants, as they cannot speak English.
