My dear Mr. Minister:

Next month Dr. Ke Chung Kim, an eminent Korean entomologist now working at the University of Minnesota, will be coming to Korea on behalf of the Smithsonian Institution as a consultant to the cooperative research program between this Institution and the Seoul National University, entitled "Ecological Study in Korea."

While in Korea, Dr. Kim will explore ways in which the present cooperative program may be developed into a long range national plan for the management of natural resources in the economy of your country.  He will assist in the planning of specific research projects with Korean scientists within the overall program of ecological research and make recommendations for carrying out an effective research and educational program for the next 25 years in Korean ecosystem ecology.

We are particularly fortunate in having a scientist of such a high caliber as Dr. Kim agree to assist in the planning of this program.  It is my great pleasure to advise you of the forthcoming visit and to solicit your support of his work.  Be assured, Mr. Minister, that we will be very grateful for any assistance your ministry may give Dr. Kim while he is working on this truly binational research effort.
