III. [[underlined]] Research Activities [[/underlined]]

During Nov.-Dec. 1964 the Cultural Property Preservation Bureau, MOE requested Korean Commission for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources to send its survey team to Cheju-Do, Hong-Do Islet, and Solak Mt. where the team made investigation on flora and fauna and geological aspect as well. During 24 May-3 June 1966 the team also made a survey on Solak mt. and its scientific report is to be published soon. During Dec. 1965-Feb. 1966 Korean Commission for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources made a preliminary survey for ecological study of biocommunity in DMZ and the first survey during 7-20 June 1966 was successfully completed. 

The Orinithological Institute, Department of Biology, Kyung Hee University has started bird-banding proejct since 1964 with grant from U.S. Army Department while continuing their survey on both Avi-fauna and rare and threatened species. For two years during 1964_1966 the institute has done so far banding of 130 species and subspecies totalling 90,000 birds. 

IV. [[underlined]] Endangered Wildlife Species and Migratory Waterfowl [[/underlined]]

As the result of second World War and Korean Conflict, wildlife in Korea especially the population of large birds and mammals are rapidly decreasing. As I reported twice on this subject in past (ICBP IX Bull., 1963, pp. 121-129 and thesis coll., Kyung
