6th January 1964

Mr. Germain Seligman,
5 East 57th Street,
New York 22, NY, USA

Dear Germain,

I should like to acknowledge with thanks your secretary's letters of the 30th December and 2nd January, and after some thought I decided to send you the pastel by Couture in the normal way, via Chenue and addressed to your forwarding agent. I quite agree with you that it is a shame that one has to go through all the paraphernalia and expense, nevertheless this object is fragile and just in case the customs people would open it I was afraid they might not have handled it with sufficient care.

I had a protective mat made by my frame maker and had it then covered by a transparent sheet and I trust it will reach you in perfect condition.

Please find enclosed the requested invoice for the drawing.

With best regards,

Yours sincerely,
