[[handwritten letter]]

23rd April 64

Dear Germain,

I am writing before going home, please excuse my scribble.

Here is the result of my investigations.

[[underline]]Chassurian[[/underline]] 257 (Christie) too unimportant to warrant photograph

[[underline]]Daubigny[[/underline]] 136 (Sotheby) Photo enclosed. You picked the prettiest drawing.
Good condition, clear. I highly recommend the drawing as such. At Sothebys they value it £150/175. I would give £200. It is particularly good taste.

[[underline]]Jongkind[[/underline]] 155 unimpressive - no doubt by him; but not typical £4/600. I am not keen.

[[underline]]Chatelet[[/underline]] 92 (Sotheby) faded, not important enough

[[underline]]Ingres[[/underline]] 104 (Sotheby) Wrong signature In my opinion not by him

Conclusion: I can only recommend the [[underline]] Daubigny (Thursday 30 'April)[[/underline]]

Best regards,
Herbert
