New York 22, New York April 25, 1964 Dear Herbert: In Christy's catalogue of Friday, May 15th, "19th and 20th Century Pictures and Drawings", I notice another drawing by Gustave DORÉ: #14 "The Minstrel" - signed and dated 1880 - watercolor. May I impose upon your kindness in asking you to send me a photograph of it with, as usual, your opinion as to its quality and condition, as well as a valuation. Since cabeling you received your note advising me of Johnson's client's refusal to sell the DORÉ -- too bad. Also in the same cable I called your attention to the fact that I had not received the photograph of the CHASSERIAU drawing: #257 "La Toilette d'Esther", Christy's, April 27th. In view of the fact that today is Saturday, the 25th, I'm afraid that there will be nothing more for me to do in this respect. I hope however to obtain from you photographs of Sotheby, Thursday, April 30th: #136 DAUBIGNY "Deux Navires dan une Baie", as Well as the two others of Sotheby, Tuesday, May 5th: #92 CHATELET "Peasants Overlooking Messina", I'm much interested in the latter, and #104 INGRES "Eros and Psyche". Please do not forget to add your opinion and valuations. With kind regards, Sincerely, Germain Seligman Herbert N. Bier, Esq. 2 Strathearn Place, Hyde Park Square, London W. 2 ^[[??]
