SPECIAL DELIVERY

February 7, 1969

Dear Herbert:

Do have my thanks for your letter of February 4th which I have just received. I am particularly glad to learn that your spell of 'flu was a mild one and that you got over it speedily.

A few minutes ago I cabled you as follows: PLEASE PURCHASE ALMATADEMA FOR FIFTYGUINEAS IF YOU SATISFIED WITH QUALITY AND CONDITION - regarding the ALMA-TADEMA drawing, CHRISTIE'S, FEBRUARY 11, LOT #133.

As you recommend, I leave it to you to decide, after you will have had opportunity of seeing it anew in a good light. Of course, I would only be interested were it fresh in colors and in perfect condition.

You write that SOTHEBY's will have a PRUD'HON female nude in March. As, according to my present plans, I will be away from New York for the greater part of March, I am wondering whether you could obtain a photograph of it at once.

You are correct, there is an important exhibition at the Cloisters, to which we have lent several of our translucent enamels. I am ordering a catalogue and shall be happy to send it on to you. However, in view of its size and weight, I am afraid I shall have to forward it by ship - thus, do not be too impatient.

I will write again, either today or tomorrow, about CHRISTIE'S sale, February 25th - OLD MASTER DRAWINGS, namely there are several drawings which off hand seem to be of interest.

With kindest thoughts to Lieselott and to you,

Yours,

Germain Seligman
