December 11, 1971

Dear Herbert;

Do have my thanks for your letter of December 4th, which I only received yesterday. Evidently we have to use "Express" letters and I will be interested to hear from you when these lines will have reached you, sent in this manner.

As you so correctly write, your straight cable of November 30th, sent at 5 PM London time should indeed have reached me,before the end of the day. This behavior of Western Union is no novelty, unfortunately, and if you recall, last season, I recommended that you use some other cable company. Here we have I.T.T. and R.C.A. and probably others. I do not believe that Western Union have a monopoly in England.

The delay in receiving your cable had no other ^[[consequence]] as you state, but it may be a very serious matter some other time.

On December 8th I cabled you as follows:

Sotheby December 16th kindly cable your opinion quality condition valutation Number 87, marble relief Last Supper. Are figures in high relief or flat. Thanks, regards.

I am eager to receive your answer on these different points. First, itx quality, and condition, and whether the different figures are in high relief as the reproduction in the catalogue gives the impression.
Were they in low relief, it would not interest me. And of course, the valuation.

I am thus looking forward to your vie^[[w]]s, and hoping that Liselotte and you are in good health,
With kind regards,

Yours,

Germain Seligman
