I have the honor to submit herewith a report upon work done during the month of October, 1883, in the Department of Birds, U.S. National Museum.

The number of accessions to the collection of stuffed birds is 13, of which the following are the more important: -

(1). Lieut. Jeff T. Moser, U.S.N. - 2 skins [[underline]] Ossifraga gigantea [[/underline]] and 4 of [[underline]] Daption capensis [[/underline]], from the Rio de la Plata, South America.

(2). Prof. William Nation, Lima, Peru. - 1 skin of [[underline]] Buarremon nationi [[/underline]]. (New to the collection.)

(3). Ernest E. T. Seton, Carberry, Manitoba. - 16 specimens, 13 species, many of them parents of nests sent also.
