Roo Yao Porcelain Vase
h. 9.1" in. w. %" in.
[[short line]]

This Roo Yao Porcelain Vase was manufactured in the Factory in Roo Chow district, Honan. Its quality is strong but fine, with exquisite designs. The glaze is ^[[dark]] green, showing a back ground of brilliant lustre as the original substance had been mixed with fine part particles of amber sands.

The story goes that when the Sung Emperor had discovered that the Ting Yao Kiln products were not the best that could be obtained, established one at Roo Chow for the purpose of taking the Imperial orders for porcelain articles.

This was procured from a member of the Manchu family royal house at high price, a rare specimen of fine porcelain ware of the Sung dynasty.
