Islands, Aqueducts, Bamboo, and Oxen – what will you discover through the annotated photographs of Mary Agnes Chase's expedition to Brazil in 1924-1925? Help us transcribe the set to learn more. Botanist Mary Agnes Chase (1869-1963) traveled to Brazil in 1924-1925 and documented the trip through photographs. The photographs were compiled by A.S. Hitchcock and offer a view on Brazilian vegetation, topography, trails, and residential structures. Locations visited include: Bello Jardim (Pernambuco); Rio Ipojuca; Garanhuus; Pernambuco; Paulo Affonso near turbine station; Itatiaia; Serra do Cipó; Rio de Janeiro; Vicosa; and Serra de Gramma.
