Transcription
This indenture made this the first day of December AD One thousand eight hundred and sixty five between David Bethune of North Carolina and County of Robeson of the one part and Columbus Bethune freed laborer of the County and State aforesaid of the second part. Witnesseth that the said Columbus Bethune hath covenanted and agreed to and with the said David Bethune to labor and do all kinds of work on the farm or otherwise from the 27th day of April 1865 till the 1st day of January 1866 to work ten hours per day to be respectful in his behavior and any loss of time either by idleness or otherwise
