Have asked permission to leave early. 3:00 P.M. train, arrive at 11:45. Could take 12:00, but would miss History. out at 8:00. On the way I bought my ticket home, and saw both (at last!) Mabel and Maude. You can tell Miss Colcord that Mabel seems better now; last night she was Queen of the Harum in a gala musicale put on by the senior class: sang, danced, and did cart-wheels in a white evening gown! [[strikethrough]] She [[/strikethrough]] She was just getting ready to go to church (for a change!). Maude gave me the little poem enclosed in hopes that you, Dad, would appreciate it. She told me how you used to practice: book on the keys, dingling with your left hand while you read. Also news that George Hutchinson, Ina's husband (?) has just died of a heart attack after returning from Fla. drive and strenuous golf. While I was there Harold drove over with Bobby to fetch Maude for dinner and to see the baby for the first time. He's stout, rather red-faced. Bobby has just had his birthday and joined the Scouts (as a Cub). He recites the enclosed poem [[strikethrough]] very [[/strikethrough]] eagerly. Seems to be all the news. Ah yes, B+ in English, B in Bio (I should have studied harder; I scarcely spend any time on Botany), will hear from the others Mon. & Tue. Must hurry back to the dorms in time for the 4:30 tea [[strikethrough]] at [[/strikethrough]] to which we History students of Cabot invited Mr. Karpovich. I took the note over to his home slipped it cautiously in the door slot; before I could turn away the door swung open and a cluster of the 15 Karpoviches urged me in with curious eyes and questions. I hope he comes; he is a very sociable, fair-minded little man. Unpredjudiced. Dinner's on. [[strikethrough]] F [[/strikethrough]] Haddock! Love, Doris
