Camden, Ark. June 15th 1869 Mr. W.M. Colby Little Rock, Ark Dear Sir: Yours of the 13th inst. is just rec'd. Mr. Millen is not here at present; I saw him but for a few moments before he left. He said that he would return before the close of this month; promised to do all he can for the school when he returns. There is no school Trustee appointed or elected at this place, and I don't see that I can do anything alone, having no power to appoint one. Could you not make the appointment if I send you two or three names? I think that Dr. Wright would be the most likely man to act in that capacity There are but very few men here who take any interest in the welfare of the colored people. I expect to return home via New Orleans, having received half fare orders by that route. Yours Very Truly etc. Thomas E. Hughes, Teacher AMA
