Com'r, Atlanta Ga., who will ascertain, if possible, the whereabouts of the freedman Adam Readwine. By order of Bt. Brig. Gen. Sibley Eugene Pickett, Bt. Lt. Col. A.A.A.G. Atlanta Ga., Aug.15, 1867. See page 483. Endorsements continued from page 258, on Comm'n from Geo. S. Thomas Att'y at Law, relative to a gold watch belonging to the Est. of Robert McCoombs dec'd, and now in possession of one Benj. Johnson of Augusta Ga., who refuses to give it up: Augusta Ga., July 27, '67. Respectfully returned to Capt. Com'n, Augusta Ga., who will take testimony of disinterested parties as to the value of Confederate money and City Council money at the time this money was loaned, and forward the same with the watch to this office - His attention is also invited to enclosed affidavit, which go to show that the deceased, Mc Coombs, was not in Augusta during the year 1863, and could not have borrowed the money as alleged - The man Johnson will be required to establish, beyond question, the fact of his having loaned the money, as alleged in his affidavit. US.V., has been highly recommended for appointment: Respectfully returned - 1st. Lt. Douglas Risley U.S. Inf., is Sub. Ass't Com'r at Brunswick - Linus North, agent of Glynn, Wayne, Charlton, and Camden Counties, has his Hd. Qrs. at Brunswick. Therefore, the services of Dr. Gilbert are not required at that point, but, if he will accept of an agency, vice E.W. Jones or J.D.
