Personal Columbia Brazoria County Tuesday 11th February 1868 Lt. J.P. Richardson AAQM & D.O. Austin, Texas. Lieutenant Fearing that my last letter did not come to hand I venture to trouble you with a second & to very respectfully draw your attention to my situation. I have dependent on me for support a wife & three children residing in Baltimore. Through the delay in receiving my salary for December they are in a most distressing situation. I have forwarded duplicate copies of certificate of now indebtedness as also duplicate copies of vouchers for December's salary Should these papers not be correctly drawn I would be glad if you would have them drawn up with the place marked in pencil where my signature is to be fixed. I appeal to you to aid me in this on the grounds of humanity & have confidence that as a soldier & a gentleman you will not deny any request & thus enable me to rejoin my family where I should have been nearly six weeks since.
