Aug. 5th, 67 Respectfully referred to Brev't Major George S. White, A. Com'r & S.O. with authority to expend ($300.00) Three Hundred dollars, on the school house at Hamilton, Va. By Order of Brev't Brig. Gen'l O. Brown, Asst. Com'r Garrick Mallery Capt. & A.A. Gen'l Johnson, James Br. Lt. Col. & S.A.C. Recd. back Aug. 4th, 67 Brvt. R. F. L. C. Office and Sir. 6th S. Dist. Va. Bowling Green, Caroline Co., Va. July 31st, 1867 Respectfully returned to Brev't Lt. Col. James Johnson with the following report: James Alexander gives a reluctant promise to take care of his sister-in-law for a time. James Alexander states that his brother Sofia's husband is employed in a brick yard & is or ought to be perfectly able to support his wife, & not to have her, a dependent freedwoman. John O'Dwyer Capt. V.R.C. & A.S.A. Brvt. R. F. L. C. Title: Asst. Adjt. Gen'l Location: Richmond, Va. Date: Aug. 5th, 1867 Respectfully returned to Brev't Lt. Col. James Johnson, S.A.C., to know whether the husband of Sophia Alexander will aid in the support of his wife, and to what extent. By Order of: Brev't Brig. Gen'l O. Brown, Asst. Com'r Ky. with the information that George Thomas, one of the parties within named this day came to this office and showed a letter from Cynthia Robinson, his sister, dated Richmond, Va. June 12th, 1867 in which she states her conditions & wishes. And George expresses the wish of himself and the other relations named to have Cynthia with them and that they would do as
