Ass't. Com'r. Meridian Miss Sept 25. 67 Hamilton Mrs. Mary W. Hamilton, Meridian Miss. Madame, Your communication dated Sept 25 asking assistance to enable yourself and the freedman to reach Demopolis Ala. is received. I sympathize with you in your misfortunes, and regret that recent orders prohibit my issuing transportation to any class of persons.
