NARA 286 Evansville May 14th" 1873 Maj A.P. Howe Louisville Ky Dear Sir - Mrs. Malinda Ewing of this city, who made application. for the bounty due her as the mother of George Washington Ewing, requests me to inquire whether it is necessary for her to come to Louisville in person to draw her bounty or where she is quite old and feeble. She would prefer if she could have it sent here. Please answer by return mail and also how much there is due her. She claims there was due her son $45 bounty and some back pay. Hoping to hear from you soon. I subscribe myself Very Respectfully yours P. Maier
