Howe Maj. 4th Arty Disbursing Officer Requests instructions upon the payment of Treasury Certificate No. 591051 - Case of Henry Noland, (decd) Pvt Co. A 6th Cavy. Recd back AGO (FB) May 17 73 [[stamp]] RECEIVED MAR 8 1873 FR. BR. A.G.O. [[/stamp]] First indorsement. War Department Adjutant General's Office May 14. 1873 Respectfully referred to the Second Auditor of the Treasury with request for return of this paper to this office with instructions covering the question submitted by Major Howe. Should payment to Mr John W. Tuttle of one half of the proceeds of the certificate in the case be authorized, will the Auditors please state what disposition shall be made of the amount (balance of the certificate) payable to James Noland, reported dead. Thomas M. Vincent Assistant Adjutant General L.S. 4/139. (FORM 100.) Treasury Department, SECOND AUDITOR'S OFFICE, May 15th, 1873. Respectfully returned you are informed that one half the proceeds of Certificate 591.051, should be paid to the living guardian. The remainder held by you until a duly appointed guardian of the other minor shall apply for the same. The last appointed guardian presenting to the Disbursing Officer satisfactory evidence of his identity. E B.
