NARA 807 (Form 24.) John Gray, Pvt. Co., "L." 5th Rgt. U.S.C. Cav. was born in Henry Co. Kentucky, was enlisted the 19th day of September, 1864, at Louisville, KY., by Capt. Ham, and was mustered in the 19th day of September, 1864, at Louisville, by Capt. Fletcher, for 3 years. At the time of enlistment he was 22 years old, and 5 feet 8 inches in height. He [[strikethrough]]was discharged(or[[/strikethrough]] died 10th day of November, 1864, at Bowling Green, KY; 2nd Lt. J.E. Weatherwax was commanding officer, and Ben. F. Moore First Sergeant at time of soldiers death. The following are names of one or more of his company who enlisted at or about same time and place: Ephraim Bryant enlisted 19th day of September, 1864, and George Traylor enlisted 19th day of September, 1864. REMARKS. 1. If a slave, that fact and name of owner will be noted here. 2. Any other peculiar fact or event connected with the soldier's history will also be noted. Joined Co. at Original Organization. Died in Gen'l [[?]] Hospital of Typhoid Fever. Occupational Laborer. Eyes, Hair, and Complexion dark. Slave of John Brannan, on Enlistment Paper. The records of the Claims Commission State of Kentucky, show that the above named soldier was a slave of Maria L Brannan, Henry Co., Ky.
