D.O. Memphis, Tenn. Dec. 13.'75 William McCraw (cld) Jacksonville, Ark. Sir; I am in the receipt of your letter of date of Dec 9. '75 propounding several questions and proceed to answer the same. In the first place you say you have been paid by Govt. $222 86/100. I find upon referring to my books you signed receipts on the 10th day of Nov. '74 at Little Rock for but $90. paid by me to you. If you had received any bounty from Government previous to that time it must have been paid by some other officer, possibly Col. Page. Mr Cox and Mr Thompson witnessed your being paid the $90. by myself. At the same time and place I paid Jacob Thomas $189. and Antoine Hudgins $90., both the latter payments being witnessed also by Messrs Cox & Thompson. Now in regard to whether there may be any other bounty coming to you I am unable to say. As you are aware your claims are sent to Washington by your lawyers to the 2nd Auditor of the Treasury who examines them and if he sees fit to allow them he sends me the money to pay them. The amount paid by me to you on the 10th day of Nov. '74 were what he directed me to pay you. If you think you are entitled to any more you should have your lawyers write to him and make enquiries. The affidavits sent to me last Spring required by me to file away with your own affidavit [[?]] Little Rock [[?]]
