NARA 778 (Form 24.) George Walker, B Co., 47 Regt. U.S.C.T. was born in Washington Co. Miss., was enlisted the 1 day of May, 1863, at Lake Providence La., by Capt. Parkinson, and was mustered in the 5 day of May, 1863, at Lake Providence La., by Lt. Thomas, for three years. At the time of enlistment he was thirty seven years old, and 6 feet 1½ inches in height. He was discharged [[strikethrough]] (or died) [[/strikethrough]] 21 day of Aug., 1865, at Vicksburg Miss; Capt. E.F. Brown was commanding officer, and Oscar Carter First Sergeant at time of soldiers discharge. The following are the names of one or more of his company who enlisted at or about the same time and place: John Willis enlisted 1 day of May, 1863, and Eli Young enlisted 1 day of May, 1863. REMARKS. 1. If a slave, that fact and name of owner will be noted here. 2. Any other peculiar fact or event connected with the soldier's history will also be noted. Joined Co. at original organization. No record as to free or slave status. Co. was engaged with the enemy at Liverpool Heights Miss. Feby 3/64 and Yazoo City Miss Mar 5/64. Absent Sick at Vicksburg Miss from Feb 8/65 to discharge Discharged on Surgeon's Certificate of Disability because of Fistula in Ano. a Privt Eyes, hair and complexion Black Occupation Farmer. R.C.J.
