487 Oct 8. 6 Isaac T Gibson Esq, Genl Agt. Friends F. Comss Salem Iowa Dear Sir I have just returned to this Office and find your esteemed favor of 17th ult. I am glad to hear you contemplate opening Schools in the Indian Territory for Freedmen from all I learn I think they are anxious to have school privileges and I see nothing to prevent your Schools there being a success - As to transportation of Teachers I think by the time your teachers arrive I shall be authorized to order payment of actual cost at lowest rates of transportation from their homes to the L.R.
