OFFICIAL OATH. I, John H. Scroggins having been, by Brig. Gen. J. W. Sprague, Assistant Commissioner of the Bureau Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands, appointed superintendent of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands, and and having signified my acceptance of said appointment, Do Solemnly Swear that I will administer the duties of Superintendent of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands, according to the orders and instructions of the Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner of the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands. So help me God. J. H. Scroggins Sworn to and Subscribed before me this 30th. day of November 1865. L. H. Carhart Capt 54 U.S.C.T. Supt & Pro. M. Ref. Freedman & A.L. NOTE. - This Oath may be administered by any Civil Magistrate, or in the absence of such officer, by a military officer.
