Asks what course to persue where a contract has been entered into, between a planter and Freedmen, the freedmen to receive a share of the crop as remuneration for their labor and the planter when the crop is "laid by" drives the freedmen off with without paying them or awarding them their share of said crop. Many cases of this kind have occurred in Union Co. |
