CHARLES T. (Chuck) WILLIAMS, the first Negro to become an officer of a major company in the alcoholic beverage industry, is vice president of Schenley Distillers Co. He joined Schenley in 1951, and served as salesman, special sales representative, brand development manager, assistant division manager and assistant national sales manager in various sales division of the company. Shortly after the outbreak of World War II, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps as a private, qualified for aviation training, won his wings and flew as a member of the first all-Negro squadron on the Air Corps. His most recent honor as appointment as head of President Johnson's anti-poverty campaign in Nassau county. Mr. Williams attended the University of California at Los Angeles. [[image]] WELCOME TO NEW YORK... -it's a small world after all... [[image]] FRANKIE DEE is a sales representative of Schenley Distillers Co. Literally a traveling salesman, he logs up to 40,000 miles a year as goodwill ambassador for such popular Schenley brands as I.W. Harper and Ancient Age Bourbon whiskies, and estimates that he has traveled more than three quarters of a million miles for Schenley since joining the company in 1940. He started his professional life as an actor, and appeared in, among other productions, "The Wizard of Oz" on film and "The Hot Mikado" on Broadway. He was one of the founders of the National Association of Market Developers, and affiliation of Negro sales executives and public relations counselors. He graduated from Langston University in Oklahoma. [[image]] ROBERT O. POWELL is assistant to the director of trade relations of Affiliated Distillers Brand Corp., the major selling subsidiary of Schenley Industries, Inc. Prior to joining Schenley, he was general sales manager of Amalgamated Publishers, Inc., national advertising representative for all Negro newspapers in the U.S. He began his business career in 1951 as coordinator of the Negro market department of Arnold Bakers, Inc., specializing in new product development. He subsequently was director of advertising for the Westchester Observer and a national advertising representative of Johnson Publishing Co. of New York and Chicago. Mr. Powell is an alumnus of Hofstra College, Hempstead, L.I. and the Alexander Hamilton Institute, New York.
