Genl [[line across page]] Bureau of Refugees Freedmen &c Hd Qrs Asst Commissioner Raleigh N.C. Feb 28th 1867 Palmer D.A.G. Albermarle Stanley Co. N.C. Sir I am directed by the Asst Comr to inform you that 1000 bushels of Corn the donation of the Southern Relief Commission of New York City will be shipped to the US Quartermaster at Salisbury for distribution among the destitute Stanley County without regard to race or opinion, under the supervision of yourself and Daniel Freeman Esq. of Albermarle. It is desirable that receipts should for all issues be taken - blanks will be sent you for that purpose. Very respectfully Your Obdt Servt Jacob F. Chur. Bt Lt Col A.A.A. Post Qr Mr Wilmington N.C. Lieutenant By direction of Col. J.V. Bomford Mil Commandant & Asst Comr Bureau R.F. & A.L. I am charged with the details on the part of the US of the distribution of corn donated by the Southern Relief Commission of N.Y. City for the destitute of this State. This corn is now in the hands of O.G. Parslee & Son of Wilmington and ready for shipment. Pursuant to my instructions I have the honor to request that you receive from the Consignees and forward as follows - 1000 bushels to Lt Jas. K. Wilson Post Qr Master at Salisbury N.C. 1300 business to Lt Jas Humbard Post Qr Master at Charlotte N.C. I enclose approved invoice of these stores for shipment as prescribed by regulations of Bureau R.F. & A.L. by which Dept the transportation will be paid. You will please return to these Hd Qrs. at least one of the invoices for the information of the Commission as requested in accompanying copy of Special Orders from Bureau. there will be 700 hundred bushels remaining on hand which Parslee & Son may be willing to sore for a short time if not please store it in your warehouse.
