20 Prairie Hen. Barn Swallow. Killdeer Solitary Sandpiper Barn Swallow Cliff Swallow Golden-winged Warbler Cerulean Warbler Hairy Woodpecker Chimney Swift 21 went down by Seeley's after Prairie Chicken. We tramped all over the field but saw neither the birds nor any sign of them. Barn Swallows were thick. They were in a large flock and kept near a herd of cattle feeding on the insects which buzzed around them. We followed a slough down to the River coming back we ran onto a flock of Killdeer which had evidently just come in as they were not seen when going. Also saw a single Solitary Sandpiper. After dinner we went over to the Millpond. There was a flock of Barn and Cliff Swallows by the bridge on the electric light wires. The former species greatly predominated. At the pond we found a flock of Warblers and I obtained four. The Golden-winged Warbler was very restless. Once it pursued an insect clear to the ground and the rest of the while it moved quickly from one perch to another. The Cerulean gave a note like tseet continually. There were three or four Hairy Woodpeckers with the flock. They were feeding in the oak second growth. Chimney Swifts were common above the pond. Many circled just above the water catching insects and drinking. Near the dam we saw five or six
