C. 2 [[/preprinted]] September 28, 1954 Mr. John Cunningham, 112 East 54th Street New York City. Dear Mr. Cunningham: I have examined the 28 books from the library of the Ducs d'Arenberg, and found them very interesting. However, I regret that 8 of the most interesting books proved to be imperfect, as shown on the attached list. I need not tell you that this affects the value considerably, since we book-collectors are very particular with regard to completeness and good condition of contents and binding. Furthermore, seven of the books are commonly encountered in book sales, and don't represent any special value. These I have also noted on the list. I am, however, still interested to buy the whole group of books, and I am prepared to offer you as my final figure the sum of $6,500.00, and shall await the owner's decision. Very sincerely yours, [[signed]] Otto H. Ranschburg [[/signed]] Otto H. Ranschburg.
