[[underlined]] Study Center and Library Addition to the National Museum of History and Technology [[/underlined]]

Planning is nearing completion for the construction of a sixth floor addition to the National Museum of History and Technology Building. This is required to provide necessary additional space for the museum's library and for the collections of archival material and graphic Americana. The new facility will accommodate the museum's present library, now widely scattered within the museum and inaccessible storage space. It will provide special study and conference facilities for visiting scholars, students, staff, and the public. It is required to permit this museum to fulfill its most fundamental mission--making its collections accessible for use in the service of history. A construction appropriation request in the amount of $7,100,000 is in the FY 1978 budget to Congress.
