October 8th, 1956

Dear Sir Alec:

You may recall that when I had the pleasure of seeing you in New York sometime ago, I mantioned that a client of mine contemplated selling several items at auction in London. i.e:

 | LANCRET | "Jeu du Cheval Fondu"
 | | (With a very fine Louis XVth frame)

 | LIMOGES, | Enamel Painted Triptych
 | | (From the Mortimer L. Schiff collection)

 | SCHALL, | "Louis XIV and Mademoiselle de la Valliere"

In view of this, you would oblige me by writing me a letter - intended for my client - in which you will be good enough to indicate the expenses such sales would entail and confirm that the entire net proceeds would be made payable in U. S. Dollars, by a check on New York, at the current rate of exchange.

This you will understand is of capital importance to an American.

All three items would be delivered to you in London, and remain fully insured by the owner, and full data concerning them would be duly mailed by me to you.

Another point of importance is, that even though I will appear for all intents and purposes as agent, neither my nor my firm's name should be mentioned in this connection and even kept from your employees, were it possible. There is no need I feel certain to emphasize the necessity for such discretion.

Looking forward to hearing from you, and with best regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
