November 12th, 1956

Dear Sir Alec:

Your son's kind letter of November 7th distresses me much, for he writes that you had gone for a few days to a hospital for a check-up. I do hope this is a mere routine step, and not caused by any special ailment. I trust therefore that you are back at your desk and busy as usual.

I am glad to read that you have been able to obtain an exceptional ruling for the three items which are going to you indirectly through France, and that in spite of this, proceeds of the sale will be obtainable in U. S. Dollars.

Though, your son did not acknowledge receipt of this, I assume he has at hand the affidavits I wrote in connection with the importation of these works of art.

Answering his last paragraph, when these works of art will be available to you, I would think that by now they should all have been delivered to you. Namely, the Marble Head as per the documents mailed to you directly was shipped on S. S. QUEEN MARY on November 1st. The other three items:

The Limoges Triptych
The Painting by LANCRET
and the Painting by SCHALL -

have been with Chenue, for quite some time already.

Chenue have been requested to deliver these to you but should these instructions not yet been carried out, please feel at liberty to communicate with them.

With all good wishes,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
