Dear Waldo -

To begin with I am going to tell you of a very bad habit you have of not dating your letters and cards. We yesterday received your cards from Juan Fernandez, but not a sign of a date on any of them. We tried to puzzle out the date of the post mark and believe it to be Dec. 9. Mrs. Schmitt came in today and gave us some news of you, some of which, from our point of view was bad - that is that you will not be back until April. Well, old man, make the most of it this time because I fixed it up with Mrs. S. today that this will be the last time you are going to get out of our clutches and be foot-loose. ha! ha!
I am so glad you got over to Juan Fernandez, and I hope you make a good catch - especially amphipods, it does not matter whether you get anything else or not.
The enclosed letter from Dr. Metcalf came today and I am sending it right along and am taking the opportunity of saying a few words to you. I know are having a great time, but please take good care of yourself and do not work too hard. It has been very cold here for the past week.
Miss [[Tosoff?]] arrived in town for a couple of week so I will be pretty busy until the departure.
 Yours.
