Dear Sir:
Recently I read an article in the San Francisco Chronicle about your stay on Juan Fernandez Island, on the coast of Chile. Will you be so kind as to inform me if there are any snakes, poisonous and nonpoisonous on the Juan Fernandez Island? Are there any alligators or other reptiles on the Island?
and also, did you notice any infection of Filariasis (Elephantiasis) and Hookworm disease amongst the inhabitants of the island? Will be very thankful to you if you will give me the desired information.

Very truly yours.
