Dear Waldo:
Just a friendly word before your "official" letter must be mailed. 
All is well with your excellent family. Ruth talked to Alvina over the phone Sunday evening, and everyone was well.
Two weeks ago Sunday, both families drove to Gettysburg,Pa. and return via Baltimore, the longest trip that our old Ford had taken us on to date. Your Mother and Thelma were in the party. We started from Chevy Chase at about 930 arrived at the battlefiend at 1240 and left for home via Baltimore a little after 4 P.M. Because of very bad weather on the return trip we did not arrive home until 915 P.M. In spite of very low visability which entirely spoiled the views of the really fine scenery in evidence at this time of year, I think
