WASHINGTON, D.C. [[/header]]

April 16, 1926.
Dr. Waldo L. Schmitt,
Curator of Marine Invertebrates,
U.S. National Museum.
Dear Dr. Schmitt:-
After due consideration of your memorandum of April 8, I fear that the proposal to establish a clearing house for information regarding scientific expeditions is not at this time one that we can take up. A few organizations might be interested at the time in the proposal, but it would be forgotten by most in a month or two, or would be neglected.
It is often of interest to know what other parties plan to visit foreign countries in which you may contemplate a journey of your own. It is, however, extremely difficult to meet other traverlers by appointment since itineraries are subject to sudden changes, and it is difficult to plan in advance without occasioning much loss of valuable time.
Very truly yours,
[[handwritten, signature]] A. Wetmore [[/handwriten]]
Assistant Secretary.
