Mrs. C.B. Smith has invited me to a big lucheon again. I [[underlined]]must[[/underlined]] have a home where I can entertain! I'm rather suspicious that I'm being invited for my piano playing. That's the tragedy of having an accomplishment.

I've promised the family apple pie for supper and the Mother's Club meets tonight. Most of that exclusive bunch have resigned.

Perhaps we ought to put the entrance on the south side and have the fireplace where the door now stands.

Good bye You'd better bring Aunt Alice something.

Love from all-

Alvina

Jan. 19-

Dear Waldo

I guess this will be my last Punta Arenas letter. Your Juan Fernandez letter of Dec. 14th came to-day. But it didn't leave Valparaiso until Dec. 29th. The Scarlet fever epidemic became so bad in sister's room that I kept her home for a week. There hasn't been a new case for ten days so I hope its over.
