Dir Sir:-

I live on the Government Reservation here, all tenents being alloted ground and encouraged to conduct a thrift garden. By chance I selected "Burpees New Self Pruning Tomatoes" for my stock. I planted the seed in a box on April 5th. of this year. On account of cold, wet weather I did not transplant the plants to the open soil until the first week of June. I set out forty-five plants and did not loose one. They grew very rapid from the beginning and I never saw such strong stems before. They were from one to one and one-fourth inches in diameter. I trained them to stakes four feet high and kept the suckers and lower leaves pinched off. The fruit began to set early and they continued to bare all summer long. At the present writing they are still blooming, same being very unusual for this section. I sold eight dollars worth of the fruit and put up enough for my family of three, giving away basket after basket. The fruit was of nice size, having a splendid color and delicious flavor. They were admired by all who saw them and esteemed by all who ate them. I was conceded to be the champion tomato grower of this Post.

Yours truly,
