For Prize Contest.

Wanted something to take mind from sorrow when mother died also my operations so started raising flowers, was successful also competing for flower shows.

First year 12 first 5 seconds out of 25 entries.

Second year 7 out of 11 entries, then judge Mr Higgins of Avoca said, of 72 vases sweet peas display (not for prizes) that Burpee couldnot show better.

Third year had whooping cough very bad, earth helped again raised more flowers. Drove a horse 15 miles, started at 4AM. took 11 first 17 entries from those that lived near.

First's at County and Town Fairs from local florist.

1921 raised [[cirtin?]] 224 lbs (4-19 lbs) each couldn't sell them, no one knew about them. Gave them away, now many raise them.

Gave flowers to children, sick and funerals

1924 garden planted June 27 been eating, raddish, lettuce, onions, beats, carrott's, beans, cucumbers, best growth for 6 weeks.

Best of all the name [[double underline]]"Atlee Burpee" for son[[/double underline]] that has been growing for six  years.

Burpee seeds have restored health, prize, money, best of all we think name of son.
