#5571 A Painting of the Venetian 18th Century School, by Giovanni Battista TIEPOLO, (Venice 1696- Madrid 1770), - "Martyrdom of St. Sebastian". 

The Saint is shown to the right, tied to a tree, while soldiers aim their arrows at him; in the foreground, to the left, one of them is seen garbed in blue; to the right, a soldier is crouching on the ground, bow in hand. A number of people are gazing upon the Saint. In the background, a building and towers. In the sky are two cherubs, one of whom holds a palm. 

This Painting is the original study for the alterpiece in the monastery church of Diessen, on Lake Ammer.
