Will be at your disposal for a short trip, if you care to make one, at any time after the 25th.

I plan to go to Paris during the first week of October; then to Spain for three weeks, and to sail for America from Gib. - unless the Italians are beseiging it! - in the first week of November. I am to lecture on Veronese, and our recently cleaned "Christ & the Centurion" at the Museum in the third week of November; then further West etc. and back to New York before Christmas.

[[pencil underline]]Paul writes me from Naples[[/underline]], in reply to my insistence that the [[pencil underline]] [[Bandinus?]] [[/pencil underline]] is cheap and would be a suitable piece for one of the niches in the Renaissance vestibule at the end of the great hall: "I suppose that Florentine sculpture would not be too bad in one of the niches of the South vestibule.

I do not know whether the people notice them, but the present small piece (school of Claus Sluter) is bad there. I'd hate to have it sent out unless we were pretty sure it would do, and that we would want it. Do get some photos. of it; and we can talk of it when you come." I feel confident that I can persuade them; so please have good photos. for me to take out when I go.

Hope to see you soon in England. If you can meet me in Southampton around the 22nd for a day and night on Saharet, I'd be pleased. Otherwise London the 24th.

Kindest regards,
