Dear Mrs. Gates:

During your last visit at the galleries a few weeks ago, either you or your sister, Mrs. Cheney told me that you had somebody in mind for the two decorative paintings in the style of Hubert Robert which I had placed in our downstairs gallery when you called.

At the time of your visit I had no data or price for these two paintings which I only received on the return of Mr. Germain Seligmann to New York.

Furthermore, these two very attractive pictures were not painted by Hubert Robert as we were informed, but by Panini, or they could be looked upon as very early works by Hubert Robert. The price for the pair is $3,600.-

I should like very much to talk to you a bit more about this matter, and would appreciate it if you would kindly give me a ring at the beginning of the week as I am going out of town over the week-end.
