Dec.1. An avalanch of cold wind slid down the mountains all night. ground froze hard. cold.
Went to traps & hunted in lower part of cañons. Caught nothing of use, shot a Tamias pallidus, climbed over the rocks till afternoon. Got a H. vespertina, [[male symbol]].
Skinned the Tamias, went to P.O. but the P.M. wasnt there.

"[[Ditto for: Dec]] 2. Sunday. A rather cold day & an icy wind from the Mts. in evening.

Went to traps in cañons & took them up. Caught 3 Sorex & nothing else but Hesperomys. Made 3 skins, had to go to town for oats. set trap for a Thomomys, will try the valley tomorrow.

Sister Sidwell killed a lynx in her hen house last night. It scratched her face & bit her hands. Killed it with an ax.
