Dec.13. A not very cold night & warm day.

Windy & rainy in evening.

Went from 7 miles to Richfield to within 6 miles of Marysville. Followed the [[Severe?]] valley, among farms. Sage brush, grease brush, & a little, spiny salt bush predominate. Caught 2 Dipodomys & 2 Ochetodons, & a Hesperomys in traps set over night. Saw a small Spermophile but lost it. Saw a - probably - Lagopus - little chief Hare run under a rock near Richfield.

Dipodomys holes are very numerous, much used, & [[underline]] all open [[/underlined]].
Took a few notes. Had to camp on mountains without water or grass. Wrote on report in evening.
Traveled all day through dry, sagebrush valley between not very high but rough & rocky mountains, covered with scrub cedar & Pinus edulis,
