Went to traps & caught 2 Hesperomys son. & an Onychomys & a Perognathus (apache?) & a Neotoma. Had to walk to Little Spring for my horse - about 6 miles - then ride back & get my things & back again to Bucklers, where where I arrived at about 3 P.M. Met George Buckler coming to hunt me up. Shot two tamias lateralis & saw 3 more. Saw lots of Scurus aberti & heard 4 or 5 barking. Have a heavy, gutteral voice that comes from away down their gullet. Shot a Red Tail H. At Bucklers ther [[strikethrough]] th [[/strikethrough]] Barometer read 8350 at starting. Abes concolor & Pinea englemani do not show a lower limit here as the lower side of the mountain is all a treeless park, but a few Abes concolor & Pinus flexalis grow along a run near Bucklers house. I followed up the W. ridge of Agassiz on the slope facing N.W. going up & on the S.W. slope coming down.
