A cold, frosty morning, no snow, no ice in river but the ground slightly frozen. Made a mistake & lost the train & have to wait till tomorrow night. Clouded up & got warm & a drizzle of rain in evening & all night. " [[ditto for: Feb.]] 14 An everlasting long day & nothing to do. damp but not cold. Got started at last - 7:30 P.M. There are lots of Passer domesticus in Burlington & also in Kansas City. " [[ditto for: Feb.]] 15 At daylight we are near Waseca, Minn., & little spots of snow are lying in shady places. It is frosty & the air feels fresh & nipping. Snow increases in extent & at Merriam Junction, where we strike the St.P.M. & O.R.R. it covers half the ground & in the woods is all over the ground. At Minneapolis it is the same & only a little more at Elk River. Had to wait at Minneapolis
