May 3. Slept well inspite of cold & hard ground & coyote music.
Got up before daylight, got breakfast & started at 5:15. Just had time to measure & skin 2 Woodchuck's before starting. 
Soon crossed the divide & then it is mostly down hill. Soon leave the Mts. & come out onto hills & plains. Saw 35 Antelope, 20 Sage hens, killed a Lepus campestris, C. columbianus & S. townsendi  com. all along to Rock Creek. Reached Rock Creek at 6 P.M. 
Rained & hailed so as to wet us just before reaching town.
Took the 7 oclock train for Rawlins.

Sunday - a quiet day at Rawlins. Tramped out over the hills a ways & saw some Spermophiles.
Cold & squalls of snow & sleet.

" [[Ditto for: May]] 5 Got my trunk as early as possible & went to work stuffing the skins that I had got along the road. 
Got the small ones stuffed & some others ready before noon. At noon Mr. Beckman came in from Bridgers Pass, so I packed up & started with him for his ranch, 18 miles S. of Rawlins.
