May 14 Went down in valley, about 2 miles.
Shot a Tamias 4vittatus & saw another in the sagebrush that I couldn't get.
Killed 4 Spizella arenacea, saw a flock of about a dozen Micropus melanoleucus wasted two shots on them at too long range.
Took up most of my traps, caught a Tamias lateralis & some Thomoses.
A cold day, froze in morning.

" [[Ditto for: May]] 15 Frosty in morning, a pleasant day. Went down into valley & killed 3 Tamias 4vittatus & 2 Spizella arenacea. caught nothing.
Packed up the specimens in P.M. & finished my report in evening.
A busy day. 16 hours of steady work.

" [[Ditto for: May]] 16 Got up early & took up the rest of my traps, caught an Arvicola only.
Packed my trunk, had breakfast & started for Ralins at 6:30. Saw a great many Spermophilus [[strikethrough]] Townsendi [[/strikethrough]] elegans & some Cynomys columbianus along the road. A few ducks were in the alkalie sloughs. Sizella arenacea are common all through the sage brush.
Sent specimens, read & wrote letters & laid in supplies at [[underlined]] Rawlins [[/underlined]] [[insertion in red]] Wyo. [[/insertion in red]]
