[[start page]]

May Came back the same road through the badlands. Took more time for hunting.
Animal life is scarce. Found some pieces of fossil turtles in the badland hills. Got * [[underlined in red]] back at 4 P.M. [[/underlined in red]] with quite a lot of specimens, am well satisfied with the trip. Saw Antelope tracks.

" [[Ditto for: May]] 23 Went to the traps that I left out from day before yesterday & found 2 Tamiases & 6 Hesperomes & a Thomomys. 5 Hesperomes & a Tamias were spoiled.
Worked most all day to get the skins made up. Set a few more traps. Caught two Thomomes of different & well marked species.
A rather cold & very windy day.

" [[Ditto for: May]] 24 Caught 4 Thomomys, one dark one & 3 of the little, pale T. clusius. A Badger got into one of the Gopher traps & carried it off. Killed some birds. Made up skins. hunted for Spizella nests. A pleasant day, just warm enough to be comfortable.

" [[Ditto for: May]] 25 Sunday. A nice day, warm & pleasant. Was hardly out doors all day.
